Biography

Bob Moreland was born and raised in the Chicago area. He attended The University of Illinois where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree, with majors in Finance, Economics, and Management Science. Bob also earned a Masters degree in Finance and completed his coursework toward a Ph. D in Finance, also at The University of Illinois. During his years in graduate school Bob taught classes at both the University of Illinois and Eastern Illinois University and remained an active college level instructor during the twenty years he worked in the investment management business.

Prior to his decision to pursue a career in the investment management business, Bob had aspired and trained to be a professional musician. During high school and college Bob had played in a number of orchestral and jazz groups, and his interest in many musical genres continues. In the visual arts field, Bob has volunteered time at a number of historical house museums where he has given tours to locals and tourists alike, and designed tours that improve the viability of the respective historic house museums and elaborate on the legacies of the respective architects.

As a practitioner in the Investment Management business, Bob has experience in building investment portfolios, the selection of individual investments (including those in the venture capital and leveraged buyout areas) and has served in roles in the investment banking and institutional pension consulting areas. During his years in investment management, and relating back to his academic training, Bob published over a dozen research papers relating to topics in the institutional investment space and presented those and others at a number of industry and investor conferences.
