Graduates of the Photography MFA program are making groundbreaking contributions to the field of contemporary photography.

Alumni of Columbia’s Photography MFA program are creating work that contributes meaningfully to the discourse of contemporary photography. They’re pushing the boundaries of image-making, and grappling with diverse subject matters and philosophies. Anahid Ghorbani MFA ’17 is the recipient of the Diane Dammeyer Fellowship in Photographic Arts and Social Issues, 2017-2018, Columbia College Chicago.

Rebecca Memoli MFA ’17 is curator of The Feeling is Mutual, a photography exhibition at Rangefinder Gallery, Tamarkin Camera, Chicago. Funding for her work was provided by the Columbia College Chicago Weisman Award.

Jessica Sladek MFA ’17 is recipient of the 2017 Stuart Abelson Fellowship, Columbia College Chicago.

Kai Caemmerer MFA ’16 was selected as one of PDN’s 2017 30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch. Work from his Sites series was featured as part of the Museum of Contemporary Photography’s 2017 Fine Print Program and the museum also acquired five of his photographs, from the Sites series and the Unborn Cities series, for their permanent collection. In 2016, Caemmerer was nominated for the 2016 John Gutmann Photography Fellowship Award, and was included in Photolucida’s 2016 Critical Mass Top 50.

Jasmine Clark MFA ’16 and Jay Turner Frey Seawell MFA ’13 are included in the exhibit Virtue of the Vicious at the Hyde Park Art Center.

Jess Dugan MFA ’14, Jasmine Clark MFA ’16 and Jay Turner Frey Seawell MFA ’13 are featured in Aperture Foundation’s 2017 Summer Open exhibition, On Freedom.

Natalie Krick MFA ’12 is the 2017 Aperture Portfolio Prize recipient. Her work will be published in Aperture magazine and will be presented in an exhibition at Aperture Gallery and Bookstore in New York.

Juan Giraldo MFA ’15 was selected as one of PDN’s 2017 30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch.

Jess T. Dugan MFA ’14 was designated a 2015 Champion of Change by the White House and was invited to speak as part of the panel “The Personal is Political: The Power of Speaking Your Truth.” Her work has been featured in publications including The New York Times, The Advocate, Musee magazine, and Photography magazine, among many others. Photographs from her project To Survive on this Shore will be featured in the exhibit Disruptive Perspectives at the Museum of Contemporary Photography in October 2017.

Sara J. Winston MFA ’14 will publish a photobook titled A Lick and A Promise with Candor Arts. She will speak about the book at the 2017 Filter Photo Festival.
