IAM Minimum Grade and Attendance
IAM Minimum Grade Policy
In order to earn credit toward the major, and in order to progress to the next course in a sequence of courses, a student must earn at least a C in an IAM class. This applies regardless of whether a student is an IAM major or not. Any grade below a C, including a C-, will not count for credit in the major.
Courses may be repeated up to three times for a higher grade. The C minimum applies both to IAM classes and to classes in other departments that are pre-requisites for IAM classes, such as Writing & Rhetoric 1 or 2, and applies equally to majors and non majors.
If you register for a course that you subsequently become ineligible
for, you will be de-registered from the class.

IAM Attendance Policy
Attendance is required in IAM classes. In
each class, attendance is tied to specific learning outcomes. Three or
more unexcused absences are cause for failure.
Here are some examples of the ways in which attendance connects with learning outcomes:
1.) Students critique and evaluate each others work in class and it is essential for your progress and learning experience to be present to do so. Critiquing develops analytical skill and communication proficiency.
2.) Students frequently collaborate on projects and in-class exercises, and learning these skills requires you to be present.
3.) Attendance and class participation is a way to model professional practice for a your future professional life.
4.) Participating in class discussions and critiques helps you develop skill in self-expression and verbal/rhetorical abilities.
