Biography

Dr. Shaw did his undergraduate work at The George Washington University, where he studied Mathematics and Spanish Language & Literature, and earned a PhD in Mathematics from University of Maryland, College Park in 2008. His professional work focuses on model theory, a field within mathematical logic, as well as on the scholarship of teaching and learning mathematics. He is particularly interested in finding ways to incorporate student-led investigation into his mathematics courses.

He has taught classes from College Mathematics to the Calculus sequence to Differential Equations, and coordinates the curriculum for Liberal Arts Mathematics, as well as the advanced undergraduate mathematics courses (calculus and above).
