Biography

Timothy McCaskey is an Associate Professor in the Science and Mathematics Department, where he teaches physics courses.  He has worked at Columbia College Chicago since 2010, and before that, he taught high school math and physics for four years.  His latest projects include a study of how students use notecards to prepare for and take physics exams, an analysis of data from a larger university physics class involving how students translate physics knowledge between different representations, and composition/presentation of music based on fractals, cellular automata, and astronomy.  He holds B.S. degrees in physics and mathematics from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in Physics (with a focus on physics education research) from the University of Maryland, College Park.
