Biography

Jim Rohn is an Associate Professor in the Interactive Arts and Media Department. He teaches Senior Computer and Traditional Animation Production and Preproduction. Prior to Columbia, Jim worked for 10 years in the video game industry (Midway Games, Sega Midwest). He was involved in all aspects of game art: Cinematics, Character Design, Environmental Modeling, Character Animation and Motion Capture. Jim also worked in the Graphic Novel field; developing several creator-owned comic series for Fantagraphics Books and DC Comics / Paradox Press, and created cover illustrations for Dark Horse Comics. He was Senior Instructor at The Screenwriter’s Group, a screenwriting workshop in Chicago. Jim professional work while teaching at Columbia includes serving as Animation Supervisor for “Head Games”; the critically-acclaimed documentary on the effects of head injuries in school and professional sports. He is currently developing “AfterBlast”; a post-apocalyptic animated comedy. Jim’s been a full time instructor at Columbia since 2003, and an adjunct professor from 2000-2002. He has a BA degree in Liberal Arts from Northern University, DeKalb, Illinois and attended The Joe Kubert School; a private art school focusing on illustration, cartooning and animation.
