Manifest 2011
The 2011 Photography B.A. + B.F.A. Manifest Exhibit presents the work of over 120 graduating Photography Majors. It is one of the biggest and best exhibits of undergraduate student photography in the country. Everyone in our department is very proud of the show and extremely proud of our graduating students. This exhibit is a clear indication of the talent and hard work of our students, and also represents the dedication, commitment, skills and experience of our faculty and staff. We also recognize the support of Student Affairs, the Manifest staff and the Office of Special Events.
The Photography Department at Columbia College Chicago is one of the nation’s largest and most rigorous Photography programs. Our program supports the broadest possible range of serious photographic directions, including personal, artistic work and also focused commercial applications. Our students develop competence in a complete range of skills and techniques, from 19th Century processes through digital imaging. We hope to fully educate our students as visually literate image makers. After a challenging and comprehensive foundation, we encourage our students to find their own directions, subjects, techniques, and photographic meaning. We ask each of our students to define his/her own ambitions as a photographer, and then pursue those ambitions with great energy and commitment. This exhibition is a fascinating display of the diverse creative paths our students develop, and we are thrilled to see both the level of accomplishment and the exciting potential displayed. While this how marks the end of our students’ time at Columbia College Chicago, it can also be seen as the beginning of many ambitious and exciting photographic careers.
