Katie Baker- Associate Producer, Harpor Radio Inc. Sirius/XM Radio

Along with the entire staff of the show, Katie Baker (B.A. '08), Associate Producer for The Laura Berman Show on Harpo Radio, Inc. (Sirius/XM Radio), was honored with a prestigious Gracie Award for Outstanding Talk Show in the Entertainment/Information category. The Gracie Awards (also known as "the Gracies") "recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women, and about women in all facets of media, including radio, television, cable and new media. The awards program also encourages the realistic and multifaceted portrayal of women in entertainment, news, features and other programs."

Katie shared her thoughts on the award: "It's so exciting! I work with a fantastic producer and production assistant and we all give The Dr. Laura Berman Show 150%. It's very rewarding to be recognized, and it pushes us to continually create amazing shows."

And her thoughts on her education at Columbia? "There's not a day that goes by that I am not using skills I learned in my radio courses....I'm writing on a weekly basis, and when I'm sitting in front of my computer struggling to come up with a show description or promo, I just remember what I learned in my Writing for Radio class."

The 36th annual Gracie Awards Gala took place on May 24, 2011 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and will air on the Hallmark Movie Channel on August 8, 2011, during prime time, then again as a daytime encore on August 12, 2011, according to the Alliance for Women in media. This is the first time that the Gracie Awards will be televised to a national audience.
