Day of Science

To encourage Chicago Public School students to pursue careers in science, the Science Institute makes available its science labs on Fridays for teachers in our workshop network to bring their students to Columbia College to be "Scientists for a Day."  This program of hands-on science experiments and activities introduces these students for the first time to a college environment and instills in them the idea of attending college and pursuing careers in science.  Over 17,000 inner-city students have gone through this program.



One-week science camps during the spring and summer breaks have been held at the Science Institute laboratories in Columbia College Chicago for various elementary schools in the network.
