AwardsWCRX has earned numerous national and international awards that include over 30 Communicator Awards, 24 Silver Microphone National awards, 24 awards from Collegiate Broadcasters, Inc., 5 awards from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System, 4 awards from College Media Advisers, and 4 local awards from the March of Dimes Achievement in Radio (AIR) competition. WCRX is also the recipient of the National Association of Broadcasters Service to America College Radio Award, among the highest public service honors in broadcasting and The New York Festivals 2009 Radio Programming and Promotion Awards.
The New York Festival Gold Medal Award
WCRX Columbia College, Chicago's Radio Station received the Gold World Medal for Best College Radio Station (2009) and the Silver World Medal for Best College Radio Station (2014) from the New York Festivals Radio Programming category. The international competition recognizes excellence in the radio broadcasting field. Entries are judged by industry professionals from 25 countries around the world.
The NABEF Service to America Radio Award
WCRX was awarded the Service to America College Radio Award from the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation in 2008. This award recognizes only one college radio station in the country for the totality of its efforts and its commitment to serving the local community. In their announcement, the NABEF stated, “WCRX Radio, Columbia College Chicago, is deeply connected to the students and to the community it serves. From a food drive to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository and its Job Outlook ’07 program to award-winning student produced PSAs and original programming.”
The Communicator Awards
The annual Communicator Awards is an international competition that recognizes outstanding works in the communication field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. Winners of the Communicator Awards come from radio stations, production facilities, advertising and public relations agencies, corporate communications departments, technicians, narrators, writers and other professionals associated with the production of audio broadcasters and materials.

The BEA Festival of Media Arts is an international exhibition of award-wining student works chosen in the following competitions: audio, documentary, interactive multimedia, news, scriptwriting, and video.
Intercollegiate Broadcasting System College Radio Awards
IBS has been at the forefront of representing the interests of college and high school radio stations throughout the United States and beyond. IBS provides guidance to schools, colleges and universities who are looking to start their own radio station.

This professional organization is dedicated to serving the needs of collegiate student media programs and their advisors. This competition is held by the nations oldest and largest college media organization.
