COVID-19 Case Updates

Active Cases include students, employees, college contractors, or visitors who tested positive for COVID-19 and were in a campus facility, including residence halls, during the time they were contagious, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These numbers are reflective of cases reported to the Student Health Center, CareATC, and other cases reported by the campus community. Cases will be removed once they meet CDC/CDPH criteria for recovery. The test positivity rate is the result of testing conducted by CareATC and the Student Health Center.

When the COVID-19 risk is high 


  •  Fewer than 200 new COVID cases (per 100,000 people in the last 7 days)  
    • Masks will be required everywhere on campus when: 
      • Staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients are at 15 percent and above. 
      • New COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population (7-day total) are at 20 percent and above. 
  • 200 or more new COVID cases (per 100,000 people in the last 7 days)  
    • Masks will be required everywhere on campus when: 
      • Staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients are above 15 percent. 
      • New COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population (7-day total) are above 20% 

When the COVID-19 risk is medium

  •  Fewer than 200 new COVID cases (per 100,000 people in the last 7 days)  
    • Masks will be required in classrooms and instructional settings when: 
      • Staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients are between 10-14.9 percent. 
      • New COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population (7-day total) are between 10-19.9 percent. 
  • 200 or more new COVID cases (per 100,000 people in the last 7 days)  
    • Masks will be required in classrooms and instructional settings when: 
      • Staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients are below 10 percent.  
      • New COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population (7-day total) are below 10 percent. 

When the COVID-19 risk is low

  •  Fewer than 200 new COVID cases (per 100,000 people in the last 7 days)  
    • Masking will be optional across campus indoor settings when: 
      • Staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients are below 10 percent. 
      • New COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population (7-day total) are below 10 percent. 
  • Masking may continue in some instructional settings. The college will continue to discuss with campus stakeholders possible continued masking requirements in some instructional settings at this level.

Based on contact tracing, it was determined there were 21 total close contacts who are following applicable CDC protocols. This data has been reported to the Chicago Department of Public Health.

    One previous active case was removed today because they now meet the CDC/CDPH criteria for recovery.

    04/08/2022 as of 10 a.m.

    There are two new active cases. The individuals are symptomatic and isolating. Based on contact tracing, it was determined there were 13 close contacts who are following applicable CDC protocols. This data has been reported to the Chicago Department of Public Health.

    One previous active case was removed today because they now meet the CDC/CDPH criteria for recovery.

    04/07/2022 as of 10 a.m.

    There are two new active cases. One individual is symptomatic and the other is asymptomatic. Both individuals are isolating. Based on contact tracing, it was determined there were nine close contacts who are following applicable CDC protocols. This data has been reported to the Chicago Department of Public Health.

    There is one new active case. The individual is symptomatic and isolating. Based on contact tracing, it was determined there were no close contacts. This data has been reported to the Chicago Department of Public Health.
