A Celebration of Black Composers
WFMT-FM and the Center for Black Music Research collaborated during February 2002 to produce four hour-long programs and an entire day of programming featuring works by black composers.
The programs, narrated by William Warfield and Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, aired during February 2002.
The one-hour programs were:
- Symphony/chamber works by composers including Adolphus Hailstork, David Baker, and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.
- Solo/chamber works by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Wendell Logan, Margaret Bonds, Dorothy Rudd Moore, Ulysses Kay and George Walker.
- Vocal works by composers including Vicente Lusitano, William Grant Still, Hale Smith, T.J. Anderson, Howard Swanson and John Carter.
- Violin concertos by Jose White, Roque Cordero and The Chevalier de Saint-Georges.
