The publications of the Center for Black Music Research are its primary means of disseminating knowledge and information to the research and academic communities. CBMR publications include the peer-reviewed journals Black Music Research Journal and Lenox Avenue: A Journal of Interarts Inquiry, the CBMR Monograph series, and the newsletters CBMR Digest, Kalinda!, Stop-Time!, and Cariso! By addressing the totality of black musical culture, these publications quickly have become catalysts in an expanding research field.
Black Music Research Journal is included as part of Individual and Institutional Associate Members’ benefits. If you wish to subscribe to the BMRJ without becoming a member, you may do so through the University of Illinois Press.
CBMR members and associates receive subscriptions to our periodicals and discounts on other publications.
Manuscripts and articles submitted to the CBMR should be prepared in accordance with our Style Guide.
