  Build Your Course in Moodle
(6 Week Course)

Week 1: Moodle Overview

During the first class, you learn how to navigate in Moodle, and we will also work on creating a user profile, editing class settings, adding participants to class, moving into the editing mode, adding labels and course descriptions, and start to look at some of the Administrative Activities.

Week 2: Communication Tools and Resources

During this class you will begin to put learning resources and objects into your Moodle class framework. You will need digital copies of documents, images, video clips, etc. to work with. We will also work with the various communication tools that are found in Moodle such as messaging and chat.

Week 3: Activities

During this class we will begin to add individual and collaborative activities to your class. These activities will include discussion forums, on- and off-line assignments, tests and quizzes, attendance, etc. As you are adding these resources to the week/topic section, be thinking of how to visually lay out the resources and assignments in a manner that will be logical and directional for your students.

Week 4: Activities Continued

During this class you will continue to work with adding interactivity and collaboration to your course. We will explore the following Activities: Choice, Feedback, and Wikis. (We will not actually use a Blog in this class, but there is some information about what is a Blog and how to create a Blog in Moodle available in this week's Additional Materials.)

Week 5: Gradebook and Reports

During this class we will set up your gradebook and you will learn how to access the various reports and student statistics and information that is available to you in Moodle.

Week 6: Advanced Moodle

Here's where you get to play with some of Moodle's bells and whistles. You will learn how to add some of the features that will make your class more engaging, such as adding widgets and gadgets, embedding videos, adding RSS feeds, and creating collaboration groups. We will also learn how to back up and restore course content for archival purposes and how to import course content for moving information from semester to semester.
