Course Description: Business of Professional Sports

Business of Professional Sports

Course is an introduction to Sports Management principles, the structure of the Sports industry and Sports organizations, either franchises (ex: Cubs); leagues (ex: NBA) venues (ex: Wrigley Field); equipments (ex: Nike) or events (Ex: the Olympics). Course also examines the types of employment training and skills career seekers require. Class will focus on the following topics: Sports, Culture & Society, Scope of Sports Industry; Sports Consumers; Governance; Leadership; Liability & Risk Management; Role of Sports Agents; Careers in Sports Management.
