After an introduction to the theoretical and philosophical concerns in the practice of oral history, various methods and uses of oral history will be explored. Students will learn the techniques of background research, script formulation, interviewing, transcribing, and editing. Each semester the class will partner with an existing oral history project and every student will contribute a fully transcribed, 60-90 minute interview to the project's permanent collection.
