Who organizes Critical Encounters?
Critical Encounters strives to be a non-hierarchical collective and collaborative effort. Each year’s events and specific administration will be coordinated through a special Task Force. The Critical Encounters Task Force is comprised of individuals from across the college, as well as specific members from the community.
Because there is a commitment to not confine Critical Encounters within a specific institute, center or school at Columbia College, a particular Task Force for any given year will be led by a Faculty Fellow.
The Critical Encounters Faculty Fellow – an individual selected by the Provost and the Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence – will be responsible for concerns regarding faculty/staff involvement in Critical Encounters. He/she is supported by two other co-chairs who focus on student and community involvement, respectively.
