Hedwig Dances by Eileen Ryan
Hedwig Dances
April 1, 2 & 3 * 8:00 p.m.25th Anniversary Season
Hedwig Dances’ bold, interdisciplinary collaborations combine poetic choreography with sculptural artifacts, projected images and haunting original music. The resulting dances resonate with complexity and depth and provoke emotion, connection and wonder. Celebrating their 25th Anniversary, Hedwig Dances honors women choreographers, both emerging and established, with three new dance works. Artistic Director Jan Bartoszek premieres Dance of Forgotten Steps, a piece about memory and identity. MacArthur and Guggenheim Fellow and New York City-based choreographer Susan Marshall will set sections of her recent cabaret-influenced Sawdust Palace on Hedwig Dances, and Andrea Miller, a former Ensemble Batsheva and Jose Limon Dance Company dancer, will premiere Dust, a duet about mortality and the fragility of life.
