This combination lab/survey course explores the development of music as underscore to live dramatic performance, from its ceremonial use in the ancient world to its most contemporary expressions in postmodern theater. Designed to acquaint aspiring screen composers with the incidental (i.e., non-concert) use of music as emotional subtext, the class is an active collaboration between Music and Theater, and will require the creation of original music for short dramatic scenes performed by student actors, who may receive independent study credit (TBD).
Course descriptions are stored in OASIS and are maintained by the Associate Dean for each School.
