The Open Labs of Columbia College Chicago are computer labs that have been designated for homework, study, and general computer use by our students, staff and faculty. These labs are not used for classes and remain open for student use daily. Presently, there are three Open Labs – 600 S. Michigan, Room 207, 1104 S. Wabash, 1st floor Mezzanine, and 624 South Michigan Avenue, Room 1302. A current and valid Columbia College ID is required for admittance by all.

Our labs have both Macintosh and PC computers, Laser printers and scanners. Installed software includes Microsoft Office, the Adobe CS2 Suite, and Macromedia Studio 8. Please see the individual lab pages for more detailed information on installed software. Lab Aides are on duty to help with printing and other general computing problems whenever the labs are open. We also have tutors available to help students with general computer use. They can also offer some assistance with the installed software.

The labs have GoPrint! installed, a system by which users can select printers and pay for their printing. Campus Cards are now accepted for payment in the Open Labs, and these can be recharged with funds online. OmniPrint cards will be accepted until further notice. However, starting with Summer '08 semester, they will no longer be available for purchase, and cash will no longer be accepted for printing.

In general, and during the semester, the labs are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Weekend hours vary. Please visit this site for changes in hours during holidays and semester breaks.
