Assistant Professor Susan Kerns' “Manlife: The Last of the Lawsonians” Selected for 2017 Chicago Underground Film Festival  

Cinema Art and Science assistant professor Susan Kerns produced the documentary Manlife: The Last of the Lawsonians, which has been selected as the closing night film for the Chicago Underground Film Festival. The festival, presented by IFP Chicago, showcases international, independent, experimental, and documentary films in addition to bringing critically acclaimed directors, filmmakers and emerging talent to Chicago for the annual showcase.
 
The documentary tells the story of Merle Hayden, a follower of the religion Lawsonomy, who takes audiences on a journey through archival photos, films, and audio tapes to learn about religious leader Alfred Lawson. The film will debut at the Logan Theater on Sunday, June 4 at 8pm.
