Self-Study
Our Effort
Columbia College Chicago, the nation's largest and most diverse private arts and media college, is currently engaged in a self-study evaluation encompassing the entire spectrum of the college’s mission and function as part of the periodic process to maintain its accreditation status with the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC/NCA). Like other institutions in the association, Columbia is comprehensively and holistically reviewed every ten years in order to continue its accredited status.
The HLC/NCA Evaluation Team, composed of peer-reviewers from various institutions that are also accredited, will visit the campus from March 30 – April 1, 2009. At present, a self-study committee comprising thirty-four members of the college community, including faculty, students, staff, and administration, is engaged in an extensive self-evaluation process. An important part of this process involves gaining input and insight from all members of the college community through multiple forums and outlets.
Throughout the self-study process, the committee will keep faculty, students, staff, and administration informed about the progress of the self-study through regular announcements.
Town Hall Meetings, Fall 2008
Tuesday, October 14, 1:30-3:30p in Ferguson Lecture Hall
Wednesday, October 15, 2:00-4:00p in Ferguson Lecture Hall
The theme of the self-study is the impact of growth in the size, complexity, and reputation of the college on teaching and learning, and on institutional organization and culture. The self-study will examine how effectively the college is responding to the consequences of growth and how well prepared the college is to meet the challenges and opportunities of future growth.
