Fereshteh Toosi
Fereshteh Toosi joined the First-Year Seminar program in 2008 and is a Fellow at Archeworks, an alternative design school in Chicago. She is a member of the College Art Association, Performance Studies International, and the Association of Independents in Radio. She has experience with consensus-based group facilitation based on the Rochdale principles.
Fereshteh is a multidisciplinary artist using video, sound, performance, and public intervention. She is the recipient of grants from the
Illinois Humanities Council, the New York State Council on the Arts, the
Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and residencies at the Experimental Sound
Studio, the Experimental Television Center, Virginia Center for the Creative
Arts and the Berwick Research Institute.
Fereshteh received a BA from Oberlin College and worked in Japan before
completing her MFA from Carnegie Mellon University's School of Art. She
previously taught media art in Maryland and Pennsylvania and completed a
faculty fellowship in Arts and Civic Engagement at Syracuse University.
