Professor, Music Director
Richard Woodbury is an educator, composer and sound designer serving as Associate Professor and Music Director in the Dance Department at Columbia College Chicago. A faculty member since 1977 and Associate Chair of Dance from 1986 to 2006, Richard has been a key contributor to the success of the Dance Department. Richard has also been active across the College serving as President of the College Council, Chair of the (then) all college Curriculum Committee, on the Academic Affairs committee, the All College Tenure Committee, ERC and numerous search committees.
As a composer and sound designer Richard has worked with leading theatrical and dance artists. Works for dance include scores for The Seldoms and performances with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Theatre credits include Tony Award winning productions on Broadway as well as numerous productions at Chicago’s Goodman and Steppenwolf Theaters.
In 2011 Richard was honored with recognition as “Distinguished Faculty Artist” at Columbia College.
