Rose Sperrazza

Clarinet

Rose Sperrazza joined the faculty of Sherwood in January of 2010.  She maintains an active schedule as a performer and teacher. She is a full-time faculty member at Northeastern Illinois University where she regularly appears as a soloist and a chamber musician. She performs often with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, Light Opera Works, and the Lithuanian Opera Orchestra.  Other performance credits include the Chicago Camerata Chamber Ensemble, the Harper Chamber Winds, Opus Three Woodwind Trio, CUBE, and as a chamber and orchestral player with the Southern Illinois Music Festival. 
 
She was a featured soloist in Tokyo, Japan where she performed music by Edward Yadzinski, the subject of her dissertation.  Her chamber performances have been broadcast on Wisconsin Public Radio’s “Sunday Afternoon Live from the Elvehjem” and on Chicago’s WFMT. Sperrazza was recently featured in a live broadcast and performances with the with the Cassatt String Quartet in a performance of the Clarinet Quintet by Brahms.
 
She is the founder and artistic director of the Chicago Clarinet Ensemble, in residence at Northeastern Illinois University. Sperrazza is also the former executive director of the International Clarinet Association and holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; the Master of Music Performance from the University of Akron; and the Bachelor of Music from DePaul University. Her primary teachers were Larry Combs, Linda Bartley, David Bell, and William Gasbarro.
