Are you interested in playing for family and friends or becoming the next rock star? Group guitar class is a great way to get introduced to the guitar. Sherwood offers two different types of guitar classes, folk & rock guitar classes, and classical guitar classes. There are two levels of group guitar meant to be taken sequentially: Introductory and Continuing.
Folk & Rock Guitar Class
Learn to play and sing your favorite pop, rock, and folk songs in a casual learning environment! Introductory classes will focus on learning basic chords and strumming patterns to classic songs as well as building basic musical skills. Continuing students will further build on their chord knowledge, learn basic finger picking patterns and increase their repertoire. Students are also highly encouraged to attend our new monthly Friday night "Strummer's Night Out" jam sessions!

Fingerstyle Guitar Class
This is the perfect class for beginners looking to start a more traditional study of the guitar. Introductory students will learn the essentials of the guitar including single note melodies, basic chords, and music reading skills. Continuing participants will develop classical style finger picking techniques and further develop fretboard knowledge and reading skills.

Group piano is an ideal way to try out the piano and build the foundation for continued individual study in piano or other instruments. All group piano classes are taught in Sherwood's state-of-the-art keyboard lab.There are two levels of group piano meant to be taken sequentially: Introductory Piano and Continuing Piano.
Introductory students will acquire a familiarity with the keyboard, learn beginning music reading skills, and play simple melodies and chords. Continuing participants will expand their repertoire to include songs in new keys and extend their range on the instrument.

Learn proper singing technique from a professional singer! This is a great class for teens who love to sing and want to train their voice in a fun and supportive environment. We'll cover sound production, breathing, diction, interpretation and musicianship skills to help strengthen and enhance vocal productivity. Repertoire covered includes selections from pop & musical theatre genres.
