Columbia Kids Week

August 11-16, 2014

We’re so excited to open a variety of our kids group classes so you and your family can experience Sherwood at Columbia firsthand! No experience is necessary to participate in any of our music, dance and theatre classes, so feel free to bring a friend! Plus, new students who drop in a class will receive $25 off their group class registration that day.

Monday, August 11  
Kids Piano Lab
Check out an introductory piano group class and learn some basic skills while you’re at it! In Kids Piano Lab, participants will listen to their peers play songs, and learn alongside our current students. (ages 6- 8) 5-5:45 pm
Tuesday, August 12
Kayla Gets What She Wants – An Original Musical
Go behind the scenes to see what it’s like to put on a kids musical! At the end of class, participants will also have an opportunity to learn the musical’s opening number. (ages 6-8) 4-5 pm
Wednesday, August 13
Exploring Musical Instruments
This class brings together music, games and arts & crafts to introduce your child into the world of strings and percussion! Your child will have the opportunity to create her/his own craft to take home. (ages 3-5) 4-4:45 pm
Voice for the Young Performer
Develop your stage presence as you join our students in singing games and learn how to sing, "Put on a Happy Face" from Bye Bye Birdie. (ages 9-12) 5-5:45 pm

Kids Guitar
Get a sneak peek at our introductory guitar class! In a group setting, kids learn the basics of guitar in a fun, easy-going classroom setting. Activities include group and solo performance, quiz games, and video screenings of the masters at work. (ages 6-8) 4:30-5:15 pm
Friday, August 15

Music Together
Sing, move and nourish your child’s inner musician! Bring your child to join in the fun and meet other parents just like you! (ages birth-4) 10:30-11:15 am

Saturday, August 16

Intro To Suzuki
The Suzuki Method is based on the belief that in a nurturing environment, every child can learn to play an instrument. We welcome you to learn about this exciting program! Kids and parent/caregivers are invited to participate in Suzuki-based games, followed by a Q&A. (ages 3-12) 1:30-2:15 pm
