Bridget Callahan

Bridget Callahan has taught viola and violin for over ten years. After being first introduced to string instruments in her public school music program, Ms. Callahan is a strong advocate for music education for all children. She has studied Suzuki pedagogy with Nancy Lokken, Edward Kreitman and Nancy Jackson.

A graduate of DePaul University, UC Santa Barbara and St. Olaf College, Bridget is also an alumnus of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and currently plays with Camerata Chicago, the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and Quad City Symphony. She is also on string faculty at high schools in Vernon Hills, IL and Highland Park, IL.

Ms. Callahan’s primary teachers include Karen Dirks, Helen Callus, Charles Gray and Charles Noble. She has participated in numerous festivals including the National Repertory Orchestra, the Festival-Institute at Round Top, Musicorda and Marrowstone. Bridget’s musical versatility is showcased in her playing on “Her Majesty the Decemberists” by Grammy-nominated rock band The Decemberists and in her collaborations with singer-songwriter Erland Wanberg and others in the Chicago area. When not teaching or playing, Bridget enjoys running, baking and drinking coffee.
