Early Childhood

Bassist and Composer Matthew Gold earned a degree in music composition from The Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with Dr. Donald Erb. While studying in Cleveland, Matthew could often be heard in performance on bass in Cleveland jazz clubs such as Club Isabella and The Boarding House, or in concert venues such as the Cain Park Summer Jazz Series or the Tri-C Sundown Jazz Series with artists such as Ralph Jackson and Willie Smith.

Mr. Gold maintains a busy performing and recording schedule and may frequently be heard as a jazz bassist, classical bassist or creative music improviser.  Matthew is a composer of orchestral, chamber and solo concert music.  Most recently his Meditation on a Handel Aria was performed as part of Fulcrum Point New Music Project Discovery Series. As an educator, Mr. Gold has taught music composition, theory, aural skills, music appreciation as well as acoustic and electric bass from early childhood ages to adult. Matthew has lectured on subjects such as Diana Ross Motives and Axis Theory, and The Who and Wagner- a music comparison.
