Performance Career: As part of Varshavski-Shapiro Piano Duo (http://www.piano-4-hands.com/) I won a dozen of music competitions across the world, leading to a series of appearances at three continents. Together we had the honor of performing with prominent orchestras and conductors in such prestigious venues as Jerusalem Henry Crown Symphony Hall, Miami Lincoln Theater, and Philharmonic Halls in Novosibirsk and Bialystok. The duo performances were featured on Bavarian Radio, Radio 4 of Hong Kong, Vatican Radio, Wisconsin Public Radio and TV, and Israeli National Radio and TV. In addition to being part of the Piano Duo, I have been actively collaborating with leading instrumentalists and singers in Israel and the US.
Educational Career: In addition to my work at Sherwood, I currently serve as an Adjunct Piano Professor at Maranatha College. My career at the pre-college level has encompassed more than 16 years of teaching and accompanying at multiple regional music organizations in Ukraine, Israel and the US. Several of my young students became laureates of local competitions and some chose to continue with their piano studies at the college level.
Professional Affiliations: In order to stay on top of the emerging trends in research and education, I maintain a current membership in the College Music Society and the MTNA. I have presented number of lecture-recitals at National and Regional Conferences of the CMS and at the ISMTA Conference.
Educational Approach: I tailor my teaching method to the personal needs of each individual student and incorporate many different styles and techniques (from Ukraine, Israel and US) into my approach. I, myself, enjoy music tremendously and see my ultimate goal as passing my love and passion for music to students of any age and ability.
