Patricia Ann McNair’s story collection, The Temple of Air, was named the Chicago Writers Association’s Book of the Year in traditional fiction, Southern Illinois University’s Devil’s Kitchen Readers Award in prose and the Society of Midland Authors Award finalist in adult fiction. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in American Fiction: Best Unpublished Short Stories by Emerging Writers, Prime Number, Other Voices, F, River Teeth, Fourth Genre, Brevity, Creative Nonfiction and Air Canada’s en Route magazine. She has published work in writing textbooks The Truth of the Matter: Art and Craft in Creative Nonfiction; Short Circuit: A Guide to the Art of the Short Story; and Culture: A Reader for Writers. Other honors include Illinois Arts Council awards, Pushcart Prize nominations, Columbia College Chicago’s Excellence in Teaching Award and a Carnegie Foundation nomination for U.S. Professor of the Year Award. She is an associate professor in the Department of Creative Writing at Columbia College Chicago.
