Latino Cultural Affairs
The Office of Latino Cultural Affairs
The Office of Latino Cultural Affairs is a dynamic center for cultural expression, advocacy and personal and professional development for students from all Latino communities and countries.
There are currently more than 1000 students currently enrolled who bring the cultures and traditions of Latin America, Mexico, South America, the Caribbean and Spain to Columbia College.
The office produces a number of events throughout the year, including FOCO, Columbia College's Latino Heritage Month Celebration and the Student Latino Film Festival, the top film festival in the country for students made by a Latino or exploring a Latino theme. Three films from the competition are selected for screening at the International Latino Film Festival.
The office also works actively with the Latino Alliance student organization that serves as a home away from home for students of Latino heritage.
There are more 30 students who meet regularly every Wednesday at 5 pm at 600 S. Michigan Avenue, Underground Cafe. The organization develops a variety of social, political and cultural programs throughout the year and helps fellow students find the resources they need to be successful in college and in life. The Office of Latino Cultural Affairs is located in 623 South Wabash Avenue - Room 302.
