Consultation Services

No matter your question --this is the best place to start. To assist you we have Student Financial Services Representatives ready to address your questions through our Online Chat at colum.edu/sfs or through our Toll-Free Consultation Line at 1-866-705-0200, Mon-Fri from 8AM to 5PM CST.  Representatives are experienced in:

Chat and Consultation Line Services are free and are available in English and Spanish. After communicating with a Representative you will be aware of your next steps based on your individual situation. If your inquiry requires an appointment the Representative will create an appointment for you and inform you of how to best prepare for a productive meeting.  During the months of July and August chat response times may be delayed and phone wait times may range between 15-20 minutes due to the anticipated semester start. 

Financial Planning Appointment Services

If you are seeking an In Office meeting with a Consultant you will need to schedule an appointment before arriving to SFS. Scheduled appointments are created after speaking with a Student Financial Services Representative or Associate and are reserved for students who require that next level of service or are experiencing extraordinary financial circumstances.  If you find yourself in one of these or any other extraordinary circumstances please contact our office through the Toll-Free Consultation Line at 1-866-705-0200 or Chat Live at colum.edu/sfs,   Examples of circumstances include:

Phone and in-person appointments are available in English and Spanish. Please note that if an appointment is not scheduled, we cannot guarantee same-day Consultant availability for you. Please keep in mind that the more complex your situation, the more time we will need to assist you to resolve, so contact us as soon as possible.

SFS Student Center Services

SFS Student Center Services are available for students who need a quick question answered or would like to use one of our self-help work stations.   During the months of July, August, and the first two weeks of each semester, Student Center service wait times may range between 30 – 45 minutes. 

Information Desk

The Information Desk is available from Mon-Fri from 9AM – 5PM to direct you to the appropriate Student Financial Services and Campus Card resources.  The Information Desk Associate is knowledgeable about:

Student Center Consultation

Services are designed to answer transactional questions, fifteen minutes in length and hands on. Our goal is to educate you on using Oasis and other online resources to answer your questions. This service provides you the option to schedule a time to meet with a consultant at a later time or wait to meet with the next available Student Center Consultant.  If the Student Center Consultant identifies your question requires in depth assessment by a Financial Planning Consultant an appointment will be created for a future date and will provide you with guidance on how to best prepare for the appointment.  Student Center Consultants are available Mon-Fri from 10AM-4PM in the Student Financial Services Student Center at 600 S. Michigan Ste. 303. 

Self-Help Work Stations

If you stop by the Student Center outside of the hours of 10AM – 4PM the Student Center is available for self-help services or to schedule an appointment.  Computers and phones are available for:
