Work Programs

When it comes to on-campus employment there are two types of work programs.

STUDENT WORK PROGRAM

Departments hire enrolled students for part-time jobs as student workers (sometimes called work-aids), tutors, and teaching assistants.

These positions are funded by Columbia College Chicago.

FEDERAL WORK STUDY PROGRAM

The Student Financial Services (SFS) Office awards FWS to eligible students. The award will appear on the student's Financial Aid Award Letter from SFS.  This information will also appear in the SFS Student Financial Aid menu of the student's OASIS account.

Students may not earn more than the FWS award amount that appears on the award letter. FWS funds are not applied to the student's account, but paid directly to the student according the pay roll schedule. The majority of FWS jobs are on-campus.  However, some students may work off-campus in the Federal Work-Study Community Service Program.

The Department of Education funds the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program.

All students must complete a job application in the Student Employment Office before seeking a job on campus.
