18 E. Congress
Live in a bit of Chicago architectural history. The George F. Kimball building, built in 1886, epitomizes the heavy timber loft construction so popular in the movement to rebuild Chicago after the great fire of 1871. Now home to Hostelling International, the Congress building is a handsome and sturdy edifice at the corner of Congress and Wabash. One block from Harold Washington Library, two blocks from Buckingham Fountain and the shores of Lake Michigan, and just a short walk to the Art Institute, Chicago's Museum Campus, the Oriental and Chicago Theaters, and four separate train lines, the Congress Building's location could hardly be better.
Be one of the 110 Columbia students living on the 5th, 6th, and 7th floors of the Congress Building. Columbia students have a separate entrance and lobby. All units are apartment-style (@1,150 sq. ft.), with both single-occupancy and double-occupancy bedrooms available. Each apartment includes a full kitchen and full compartmentalized bathroom, plus a spacious living and dining area.
While there are few additional amenities in the Congress building available for Columbia College Chicago students (besides a laundry room), all Plymouth facilities' are available to residents of the Congress Building. The Congress building also includes cable, internet and phone.
