Visitors Guide

Welcome to Chicago! We hope that you enjoy your stay in our beautiful city. Chicago is an amazing place to be, especially in the summer when visitors can always find neighborhood festivals, a major league baseball game or two (Cubs on the North side, White Sox on the South), al fresco dining at any number of the city’s fantastic restaurants, and of course beautiful Lake Michigan with its lovely beaches and harbors.

We’ve put together some information to insure that you have a successful conference and give you the inside track on everything you need to know about the city.

Getting to Chicago

Air

Chicago is easy to access from anywhere in the country. We have two major airports, O’Hare and Midway, which are minutes away from downtown Chicago (The Loop) and the conference site, and easy to access by taxi or public transportation.

Located just 17 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, O’Hare International Airport is accessible via the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line ‘L’ train.

Midway International is 10 miles southwest of downtown Chicago and is accessible via the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Orange Line ‘L’ train. Taxi and limousine services are available from both airports.

For information on the CTA visit TransitChicago.com

Train

Chicago is also accessible by Amtrak rail service through Union Station in downtown Chicago. For information on Amtrak and Union Station visit Amtrak.com

Car/Parking

Parking in Chicago is expensive. Rates vary between $15 to $35 per day. Since Chicago has one of the best public transportation systems around and taxicabs are plentiful any time of the day or night, a car really isn’t necessary. In addition, the conference is conveniently located close to hotels, campus housing, restaurants, bars and museums.

Housing

Due to high demand, all campus housing is sold out, as well as the block of hotel rooms that were reserved for the conference.
