The Interactive Multimedia Program at Columbia College Chicago was,
to our knowledge, the first undergraduate program in the
country to specialize in the exciting emerging field of Interactive
Multimedia. Unlike some computer arts or new media programs,
Columbia's Interactive Multimedia Program focuses on interactive forms,
such as web site design, interactive CD-ROMs and kiosks, and
computer-based training.
Our students learn foundational skills in all the component media
they are likely to encounter in multimedia production environments,
including visual design, audio, programming, writing, animation,
photography and video. The program builds on these
foundational skills with a sequence of interactive media production
and theory classes where students learn the tools and technologies
relevant in today's production environments.
Each student also specializes in a particular aspect of IM
production, such as web or graphic design to maximize their value in
the workplace. The program culminates in an intensive
year-long team production environment where students learn to work
collaboratively while producing projects for external clients.
