The Annual Pougialis Fine Arts Award

The Pougialis Fine Arts Award is given to enable promising art students to have an opportunity to study as apprentices with senior artists of national and international standing for one semester. The student will have a chance to closely observe and participate with the artist on the completion of projects in their studios. In addition to this, the artist will counsel and critique the student’s work throughout the semester. It is hoped that a strong working and learning relationship will develop from this and that both student and artist will mutually benefit.

The student will receive a stipend of $2,000 during the semester for supplies and six hours of tuition-free credit in Art. During the term of the apprenticeship, the student is expected to complete a body of work, which will periodically be critiqued by faculty members and the senior artist. The student must be a declared major in the Art & Design Department. Both student and senior artist will be required to provide the Art Department with a written evaluation of the experience.

The Second place award will be $1,500 in cash for supplies.
