in Interior Architecture
The Profession
Interior architects
create interior environments for all building types, ranging
in scope from a single residential space to multi-floor tenancies
in large commercial buildings.
Interior Architecture
is a three-dimensional response to the programmatic requirements
of the client's environmental needs. The physical arrangement
of functions, the location, design, and size of needed spaces,
the selection of furnishings and finishes, the design of lighting,
heating, cooling, ventilation, and acoustics are all integrated
into an appropriate design response to the client's needs,
wants, and means.
Interior Architecture
requires a high level of communication skills, both written
and graphic, and a broad knowledge of art, design, history,
and related technology. Awareness and understanding of human
needs, ergonomics, and cultural expectations are necessary
for functional and aesthetic resolutions of any Interior Architecture
problem.
