Introduction and Statement of Purpose

PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED DESIGNERS POSSESS:

  • a thorough knowledge of the materials and techniques of their craft
  • are familiar with the profession's historical and aesthetic roots
  • maintain an enlightened and appreciative awareness of their field
  • and are experienced in communicating ideas both visually and verbally.

When we are in the presence of an exciting and efficiently designed spatial environment, our positive experience attests to the results of a designer's problem solving. While traditional careers in professional architectural and interior design have historically been limited to licensed and certified architects, new and exciting occupations that do not draw upon licensure have emerged in response to the growth of our built environment an our society's need to design spaces appropriately. The purpose of these two programs is to educate career-oriented women and men in the art of building and design.

The purpose of these two programs is to educate career-oriented women and men in the art of building and design. The Graduate Programs in Architectural Studies and Interior Architecture prepare students to enter their professional life with a resourceful and intensive back-ground in designing and planning architectural spaces and interiors.
