COLUMBIA
STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM Thanks for your interest in the Columbia College Study Abroad Program at the Foxhole School of Dartington College in Devon, England. Due to the expanding student body at Dartington College, dorm rooms and classroom space are not longer available for visiting school programs such as Columbia College's. Therefore, there will be … NO SUMMER ABROAD PROGRAM in England for Summer 2003. Columbia College is currently exploring other options for relocating the program, and any updates will be posted at this website. In the meantime, feel free to contact Keri Kurlinski-Walters in the Academic Advising office for information regarding other study abroad opportunities. The Study Abroad Program began in 1993 with an inaugural class of twelve students who lived and studied at Dartington College, in the County of Devon, between June 11 and July 11. The program has run continuously since that time through the summer of 2002, with the exception of 2001 when the trip was cancelled due to travel restrictions implemented to contain a Hoof & Mouth Disease outbreak among livestock in rural England. Sponsored by Columbia's Departments of Film & Video, Liberal Education, English, Fiction and Photography, courses taught as part of the England Study Abroad Program have included: Acting Techniques, British Film Comedy, Critical Reading & Writing, Documentary Photography, Fiction Seminar, History of England, Humanities for the Visual Artist, Idea Development, Senior Seminar and Shakespeare. The following students and instructors have participated in the program, and our thanks to them for their enthusiasm, hard work and support of the program. |
