Biography

Cheri Lee Charlton (She/Her) serves as an Assistant Professor of Design within the Illustration Program at Columbia College Chicago. She is a working illustrator and muralist, with a client list that includes The Sister Cities of Chicago, The American Consulate in Casablanca, BLICK Art Materials, The Girl Scouts of America, The Audubon Society, and the Chicago Fire Soccer Club. She is committed to nurturing art education through her community projects and fostering avenues for emerging artists, particularly in the realms of mural creation and illustration. The content of her work focuses on whimsical depictions of children, nature, animals, themes of environmental stewardship, and female empowerment. She has been on the Chicago Public Art Prequalified List since 2020 through the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE). Presently, she holds the title of Artist in Residence at the International Museum of Surgical Science, where she is gearing up for a solo exhibition slated for the Spring of 2024. Currently she is engaged with the Audubon Society to conceive a mural for a community garden in Chicago's Edgewater neighborhood.
