Eddie Garrett is an Adjunct Professor in the Communication Department, teaching social media strategy and content coursework. Eddie's background includes 25+ years’ experience working at agencies, corporations, and consultancies advising some of the world’s biggest brands in areas including food & beverage, technology, sports, consumer goods, life sciences and pet care.
He is currently Executive Vice President, Head of Strategy and Planning at the integrated marketing agency, Current Global, and also serves as an advisor with 18 Coffees, the strategy consulting ﬁrm focused on helping organizations transform and thrive in today’s mission-driven world. Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice President, Head of Strategy in Weber Shandwick’s Chicago office. In this role, he was responsible for elevating insight-based approaches and holistic communications strategies across the agency’s portfolio of clients. His agency experience also includes senior positions at Edelman and Porter Novelli.
Eddie also has the perspective of working at a global media and entertainment company. His years at Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. as Director of Corporate Communications and New Media were focused across the corporate, entertainment, news and sports divisions of Turner Broadcasting. This included corporate and network positioning, branding acquisitions and divestitures, Wall Street reporting, crisis communications, Time Warner interface and employee communications.
Eddie is a member of the board of trust for the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia and is the former chairman of the board of jurors for the Peabody Awards.
