Jessica Jacobs is an Assistant Professor in the Business & Entrepreneurship Department at Columbia College Chicago where she teaches classes in design management, visual arts management, project management, self-management and freelancing, and information management while coordinating the Design Management program.
Jessica was recently awarded the AIGA Design Educators Community Faculty Research Grant for her project, "Understanding Best Practices in Student-Run, Faculty-Advised Campus Design Studios." Her scholarship has been published in Dialectic, International Journal of Design Management and Professional Practice, and International Journal of Design Education. In addition to her scholarly and creative work, Jessica has more than 20 years of industry experience in design, marketing and communication and currently operates a freelance graphic design practice focusing on projects for other artists, designers and educators.
Jessica earned a BS in Radio/Television/Film from Northwestern University and an MFA in Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Design at IIT Institute of Design.
