Biography

Dr. Minbiole is an Associate Professor in the Department of Science and Mathematics. She received her B.S. in Biological Sciences as well as her Ph.D. in Cellular, Developmental and Molecular Biology at the University of Illinois Chicago. Her doctoral research focused on the regulation of glutamate receptor abundance by microRNAs at the synapse during embryonic development utilizing Drosophila as a model organism. She continues to pursue research using the Drosophila model to investigate the effects of microbiome and diet changes on fertility and reproductive success. Her current education research focuses on improving course design and instructional techniques to improve student engagement and success in a non-majors undergraduate population.

Dr. Minbiole is currently the coordinator for the Minor in Biology at Columbia College and an editor for the journal The American Biology Teacher.
