Biography

Nick Eipers is Adjunct Faculty in Audio Arts & Acoustics, teaching courses in music recording. Nick is a recording engineer and producer specializing in music; tracking, mixing, editing, mastering, producing, archiving and consulting. Since 1992, he has worked freelance (and occasionally "on staff") at Chicago Recording Company, Rax Trax Recording, Electrical Audio, Shirk Studios, Minbal, Strobe Recording, Gravity Studios, Shantyville Recording, Tranquility One, Hinge, Star Trax Recording, Chicago Trax, Studiomedia, IV Labs, Wall2Wall, StudioChicago, and many other facilities. In 2008, he founded a record label - Chicago Sessions - producing and recording a catalog of 22 albums. Four were named in Downbeat Magazine’s “Albums of the Year”; two were “Editor’s Picks”. Nick’s credits include Howard Levy, Paul Wertico’s Mid-East/Mid-West Alliance, Larry Gray, Marc Scibilia, Makaya McCraven, Chicago Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble, Budway Ferris And The Mutual Magic, Matt Nelson Trio, Aaron Koppel Quartet, Shawn Maxwell's New Tomorrow, Liz Berg, lePercolateur, Paulinho Garcia, Kantuz, Don Skoog, The Chautauqua Ensemble, Bryan Carter, Michael Henson, Heartlands, Gallery 37/City of Chicago, Andrew Pelletier, Gabe Rosen And The Good Enough Band, Mighty Joe. In 2003, Nick designed and built Shantyville Recording Studio, a musician-owned private studio. He was Guest Engineer twice for Sennheiser Sound Recording Academy. He was Producer for the radio program “This Is Chicago Jazz with Mike Jeffers” on WNTD (2009-2010), which included on-air musical performances and remote broadcasts. Nick has a B.A. in Sound Engineering from Columbia College Chicago, 1994.
