Biography

Adam Brooks, full-time tenured Professor of Fine Art in the Art and Art History Department, is an artist, curator, and educator, who teaches, among other courses, New Genres, Professional Practices, Senior Studio, the Art Now! Lecture Series, and in Foundations. His work is in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, as well as in many private collections. He co-founded the collaborative project Industry of the Ordinary with Mathew Wilson in 2003. They had a major mid-career survey in 2012-13 at the Chicago Cultural Center that was met with much acclaim. Industry of the Ordinary were named in September 2018 among the 50 most influential artists in Chicago by New City magazine. Brooks holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
