The Music department at Columbia College Chicago presents more than 400 student, faculty, and guest artist-in-residence performances and workshops each year.
Workshops and open rehearsals give students the opportunity to observe pre-performance preparation and to ask questions of world-class Resident artists such as Benny Golson, Charlie Sexton, Paula Cole, Barry Harris, Bernard Rands, Woody Goss, Isaiah Sharkey, Tia Fuller, Morris Hayes, Darryl Jones, Jonathan McReynolds, Benny Green, Bernard Purdie, Russel Gunn, Shawn Mullins, Stefon Harris, Corey Henry, and Todd Rundgren.
Student performance opportunities include recitals, shows, master classes, forums, open rehearsals, and on- and off-campus venues including the Blackstone, Reggies, Jazz Showcase, Haus, Conaway Center, Manifest stages, and commencement.
Our students have performed and won awards at the Notre Dame Jazz Festival, Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) conference, Elmhurst Jazz Festival, and Jazz Education Network (JEN) conference.
