Global Entrepreneur in Residence

The GEiR program brings international entrepreneurs to Columbia to launch start-ups and mentor students, faculty, and staff.

GEiRs base their start-up company at the college and can utilize the cap-exempt H-1B visa available to universities. GEiRs work across campus mentoring students, faculty, and staff in a wide variety of projects that require an entrepreneurial mindset. For example, GEiRs may guest lecture in classrooms, advise on entrepreneurial research, and/or provide mentorship to Columbia community members developing their own startups.

Apply to be a GEiR at Columbia

A GEiR can be a Columbia alum, a student finishing up OPT, a student completing their studies as an F-1, or an international entrepreneur seeking to develop a program in Chicago.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. For more information, contact
