Cinema and Television Arts at Columbia College Chicago awards up to $100,000 per year to help fund student film projects. Awards are given for projects in development, preproduction, production, and postproduction. The maximum award per project is $3,000.
Award-winning films that have benefited from Production Fund include:
- Angel Kristi Williams' MFA thesis film Charlotte was one of five films in IndieWire's Best New American Short Films 2015, won the Best Narrative Short jury prize at Sarasota Film Festival, and the Pink Peach Short jury award at Atlanta Film Festival.
- Kellee Terrell's MFA thesis film Blame won awards at EXPO Chicago, Ivy Film Festival, Living Skies Student Film Festival.
- Marie Ullrich's MFA thesis film Faster! debuted at the Chicago International Film Festival and across the Atlantic at the British Film Institute's London Film Festival.
- Bucher Almzain's MFA thesis film The Outcast won the Audience Award at the Driftless Film Festival, the Viewer's Choice Award at KCET's Fine Cut in LA, and screened at many festivals including BEACON Film Festival UK, CarribbeanLens International Film Festival, and Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at Cannes Film Festival.

There are three deadlines throughout the year:
- 5 p.m. on November 1
- 5 p.m. on March 1
- 5 p.m. on May 1
Note: If these dates fall on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is the last business day prior to that weekend or holiday.
